One of our favourite pastimes is gathering the entire family after a hard days work and enjoying a home cooked meal together. Fortunately, we have some exceptional home cooks in our family and some amazing secret recipes that have been passed on from generation to generation.
We know you may be thinking, “well that’s great for you, but what about us!?” Which is why we’re excited to announce that for the first time ever, we’re going to be making our Doerksen family recipes public so that our customers (that’s you!) can prepare and enjoy our beef exactly as we do. That's why we’re featuring Delicious Gemstone Burgers!
Cooking doesn’t have to be complicated, but simple doesn’t have to mean bland and boring. Our Delicious Gemstone Burgers are so simple to make, and they’re also packed full of flavour and kid-approved. It truly is the best of both worlds!
These savoury patties are a family staple for field dinners, lunches on the deck, and Sunday suppers. In fact, a batch of these burgers can be found in each of our freezers at any given time, ready to throw on the grill! We hope you enjoy them just as much as we do!
Delicious Gemstone Burgers
Ingredients
- 2 lbs grass fed ground beef
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp garlic
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a large bowl, and mix by hand until everything is evenly mixed.
- Use a burger press to shape burgers, or form patties by hand. We typically use 1/3lb of meat mixture per burger, but feel free to use more or less!
- Squares of wax paper can be used to stack burgers in freezer containers to ensure easy separation.
- Cook from frozen, or partially thawed on the grill, 5-7 minutes per side.
Pro Tip: a burger press is a handy tool to ensure burgers are uniform and cook evenly. This is an easy recipe to double, triple, or quadruple, and a press makes it that much easier.
